Susan: CQJP News

I opted not to do the CQJP this year, but applique. However, I haven't started applique yet, either! I did get center #9 started on Wednesday on the way to the Nashville temple.

On Friday, I made block 8 finally, after having it on my list for more than a month! This is one of three larger blocks in the whole thing. It's a little wacky, but stitching will help ... or not. It's okay either way.

CQJP2015: March Block Update

Finally, almost halfway through May, I found some time to do a couple of seams on my March block.

Seam 16: Big Backstitch

This is not finished. It needs embellishment still, but I'm not sure what that will be yet.

Seam 17:

This one needs beads - triangle beads, I think, but I am so totally in love with it! I love the shape and the curve and the colors.

Cy - Heart Crazy

Straight From the Heart Crazy Quilt

Week 27

This week I have a Kantha embroidery heart to show you.
Free Form style, drawing free-hand straight onto the fabric, gives this piece a traditional look.

The pale pink heart in the middle is rows of chain stitch.
Other stitches used are: running stitch, back stitch, satin stitch and emphasized couching (where the couching stitches comprise a design).

And a couple of blue 'bricks' on the Building Blocks quilt can be seen on my blog HERE

Now I must get a couple more days of packing done. Just got to get the house on the market, and then once sold, we can enjoy our travelling retirement.

Cy ~ My Monogram for Crazy Quilt

This week I designed and stitched a Monogram for my
Straight From the Heart Crazy Quilt.

Stitches included are: Whipped running stitch, Laced Herringbone stitch, French Knots,Stem stitch, and Back stitch.

Step-by-step photos are on my blog

And the finished Monogram.........

I know it it usually required to "sign" quilts when completed.
But, as usual, I am doing things back to front.
This Monogram of my initials is for the front of the crazy quilt.
With a bit of luck (and time), next week I can show you the setting I have planned for the Monogram.

Judy~Berry Stitch~ TAST

To me this stitch looks like an ultra thick detached chain.  As you can see, precious little stitching happened this past week, mostly because I was working on this guy and a few other elf projects.  This snowman is on a sweater for my grand daughter, and since I did a tiny bit of embroidery on it thought I'd share it. He was supposed to have french knot eyes and buttons, but I used tiny buttons instead.  One thing I've learned from all of you is to take the leap and experiment with a pattern.  Thanks!  Now back to the elf projects!

Susan: CQJP Update

Sometime this month I have to make more blocks. Hard to believe, but it's the fourth block here and I only made four! No satin stitch on this part.

This is the upper left corner. The spider web is back stitched for the straight parts and flystitch for the cross pieces, just didn't make any stem on it. There are blue beads in the openings in the lace. There will be other embellishments added at the end. I'm thinking of a little silk ribbon in the spider web, similar to Nancy's maybe.

Angela - TAST Catch-up Week

This is my journal page for TAST week 13.  This was proclaimed a catch-up week so no particular stitch was given.  My journal needed a page for the week however, so that the number of pages would even out.  So I used backstitch to create this page.

MC Escher is one of my favorite artists, his pieces are endlessly fascinating.  And yes I meant to say that.  On March 27, 1972 MC Escher died and we lost a great artist.  If you are unfamiliar with his work then I highly suggest you check it out.  You won't be disappointed but you may very well be muttering to yourself.....how did he do that?

I was informed that we will have an extra week added to TAST so that we will indeed have 52 stitches.   Arggghh.  My little ocd issue has told myself  I will just have to create 'end papers' to my journal to make the pages even out.  Good thing I have lots of fabric and thread!
