Moira - new projects

I've been bouncing in umpteen directions lately........

First up were two quilted postcards.  These started off with two matching mini pieces of cross-stitch.  The fabrics used on the tops of the cards were from my stash of Fairy Frost scraps that I had saved several yrs ago as I was making blocks for a contest held by Michael Miller

Made two more snail blocks using 9" blocks for the shells.

Started a little little summer outfit for my great niece.  It will be an early BD present.   I still have the matching bloomers to make for it (cut out but not sewn).  Lots of the bias tape and rick rack in this one (cost more than the fabric did!).   Probably won't make this pattern again.

I've been working on this cross-stitch which will end up being a mini-wall hanging for a shower gift.  Shower isn't until August 3rd so I've lots of time to get it done.

Several other projects for commissions are in the initial stages as well.   One of which I have to figure out how to clean some lace on a wedding dress that has discolored (well can't tell it is discolored or stained because the satin underneath it isn't discolored in any way).

Moira:: finishes for last week

Progress made on several fronts over the last week -

I finished up these 4 memory pillows for a customer made from her wedding dress.   She's picking them up today and then I'll get paid the remainder of what she owes me.

4 more Christmas postcards made.  The flowers were some of the 99 cent floral pics from Joanns.

And finally, I made this test block for a new quilt design.

Moira - a few things done

Lots of work on projects over the weekend in between running lots of errands.

All lace is now off of the wedding dress and I've started separating the rest of the dress so that I can cut the sections needed for the pillows.  I'm aiming to make a big dent in this project this week and over the coming weekend.  I need to get them done and back to my customer.

Four more Christmas postcards were completed.  The machine ended up arguing with me as I tried to stitch them down with a zigzag stitch.....finally got it to behave with a straight stitch.  One of them has already been sent off in a Christmas package.

I've got some more Christmas picks that I want to make into postcards that I'm hoping to work with this coming week as well.

And the final bit of stitching was this test block of a new paper-pieced pattern.  Pattern for it is written up, and I've sent it to Susan for review.

Next pattern in the works is the wallhanging for the military bears..... And I just released the third of five patterns in that series.

Moira: Lots of sewing....

Did lots of sewing/quilting this past week but don't have pictures of all of it to show for it.   The quilting t-shirt quilt was finished up Sunday.  Binding is made and ready to be pressed (will do that at lunch time today) so that I can get the binding sewn on this afternoon after school.  I've got at least  1 1/2 days up in Casper this week for doctor appts/chemo treatment so I'll be hauling it along with me to work on hand sewing the binding down.   I'm not one for running around the mall or to lots of shops, so this time will be perfect for me to focus on the binding.  I will make a couple of stops, including one at the quilt store so I can pick up fabric for the border on my challenge quilt but that's all the shopping I've got planned for Casper.   And I may not want to be out anyway because there is a storm forecast that could leave way too much snow coming in.  =P

Did get a little cross-stitch piece finished at the last treatment.   It is now in a quilted postcard.   Used up more of the novelty print scraps that I had in a baggie here....that top is now waiting for a decision on what color to use for a final border.  Have another little one in process that I should finish up at the office this week.

Have started working on a pp'd block that I'm testing for another designer.  Pulled the fabrics from my scrap bins and am liking how they are playing together.   Fabrics are shown here, but can't show the block.

And the last new project I'm thinking about (surprised about me having a new one?) is making either mug rugs or quilted postcards from the little quilter sayings here.   Both would make cute gifts or to sell, but I haven't decided which one I want to do yet.

Spring break starts Thursday this week and goes thru Tuesday next week (yes, it's a wierd school calendar) so I'll be doing lots of commissioned sewing this week and hopefully some stuff for me as well.  =)

Moira -

Not much sewing going on here this past week with the last week of school being finished up.    Still have 2 classes worth of final exams to grade and final check out to do for the summer to do today.   Don't even want to think of all that needs to be accomplished before the start of the next school year on 7/31!

Did get a couple of quilted postcards made last night.   A lot more organic than I normally so because I just free stitched the leaves and flower stems instead of satin stitching everything down..  Both are 5" by 7" in size.   All fabrics came from the scrap bins, and the flowers are silk flowers held on by buttons.

Had pulled out a piece of CQ (the kitten in the garden) to work on, but don't remember where I've packed the stash of cq threads that I have.....sigh, it's been too long since I did any.

What I need to be working on now and for the next week is getting a whole bunch of the commissioned sewing that I have here made up.   I've got a week long class scheduled in a couple of weeks and that will take me back to where I used to live.   And would mean I could hand deliver things if I can manage to connect with the gal that I sew for saving me the money for postage.
