Cyra ~ busy, busy, busy stitching

The grey and green background that I made while on that lovely stitching retreat a couple of weeks ago, has turned into a quilted tote-style bag.
Splat on one side, and a Swirl on the other.

This fun fiberart small quilt is now hanging in the towns meeting room along with about 18 similarly size 'self-portrait' quilts, haha.

And I use the words 'self-portrait' very loosely.
(this is nothing like me really, lol)

The mini-me has a scrap strip fabric dress embellished with free-motion scrolls, a crochet bag with embroidered flowers, and she has a needle-felted head, hair AND boobs, and she wears metal wire glasses and two thread friendship bracelets.
Her sandals (flip-flops or jandals) are made with a tiny buttonhole stitch in black thread.
The other mini-me's are all on a similar background with the same binding, and they are all connected together with fabric tabs in the same colour as the binding.

I have finished a quilted chair back cover, or antimacassar, for the old-rocker in the lounge.
It's the Snowball block.

My old teapot cozy bit the dust (it was only about 12 years old lol) so I made a new one.
Love the kiwi fruit fabric for the kitchen.

And my final show for this week is a couple of 'containers'.
Basically made as thread-catchers, but can be used for a number of different things as well.

I need one of these next to my sewing machine because I'm always losing the seam-ripper or little scissors or the feet for the machine or the bobbins or.............

These nice containers will hold everything I need right there.

So you can see I have been sewing up a storm since the retreat.
It was a great way to get me back on track.

All for now.

Moira: Finishes

Did finish the publication project, but can't show the front of it so here's a pic of the back.  =)  The backing was another piece of the fabric from Hoffman, and was cut in a continuous piece on the length of grain.   I had told them just enough on what I needed to have it work.   Project was mailed off yesterday and should be delivered tomorrow....good timing 'cause it was due there on 3/06.

Also mailed off my art quilt challenge yesterday so that is out of my hair as well.
And I finally finished off this cross-body purse.  Fabrics used are assorted silk scraps for the body, a linen/rayon blend for the strap and binding, and a cotton for the bag lining and pocket.  This one will be for sale once i have time to list it on etsy.

Front of the bag.  Button was one of the many that I bought on clearance for pennies on the dollar last year at Joann's.

A total of 3 inner compartments in this one thanks to the little pocket I added to it.

Next up - Finish making the last two potholders that were commissioned by one person.  I need to make myself a purse because the one I'd been using fell apart and I can't find what I like in the stores.  I've also got 4 pillow covers coming up, and need to figure out what i'm going to wear to a daytime wedding the end of March.......oh, and figure out where I'm going to move to by the end of July..........lol.  And there are a couple of special projects coming up for the blog......just a little going on these days.

And I need to redesign a block for the new BOM that I was doing for this year because I had someone contact me accusing me of having infringed on her pattern.   Not something I had done because I had never even heard of her site or work.   But because the patterns are similar, I can't release my lion block.  =(  And may have to rethink some of the animals I'd intended to use for mine.  =P  Or else come up with a new idea totally for a BOM this year.

Cyra - A cute little bag

Little Bag #2 is a bright and cheerful thing.

A fun and quick project that kept me interested and occupied in between the unpacking of my book boxes, and I'm still re-making some more flat-pack shelves for the craft room, a new arm chair has arrived for that room too (thank you Tony), and he is up in the roof space at the moment getting the aerial wires sorted for the tv. Evidently the junction box thingy that he bought that boosts the satellite signal isn't working.

A new freeform crochet project is in the early planning stage. (New Leaf FFAL on Ravelry)
My thought for this is "Spring is in the air" (it is here is NZ), new life abounds in the gardens, trees are budding up nicely, flowers are emerging, and the Spring hare are having fun in the field behind our garden.
These yarns made the first cut in my grab-box for this project. I'm trying not to include any blue, green or purple in this first part of the project, but I see a pale lilac mohair (bottom right) has crept into the box while I wasn't looking.

Anyway, lots more to do today, so I'm off now to explore more boxes and fill up those shelves.

Cyra - Hello again

Yep, hello from me again. Oh what a long time I have been on the road with hardly any internet connections along the way.
We have covered a lot of distance around New Zealand North Island over the last 5 months and have just come to rest in Taranaki now.
You would not believe some of the sights we have seen during our travels, but I hope to follow up with a lot of photos on my blog soon.

Stitching has been few and far between, but I did get this freeform crochet bag made which I now use every day as its easy to just 'sling' it over the shoulder and go.

And because I kept misplacing my caravan door key, I made this necklace so that I would not loose my key again.
Hippy-flower-power inspired.

Hope you didn't miss me too much. I will now hopefully be able to catch up with the other member posts here (I have missed that weekly participation and inspiration).
Looking forward to getting back to some sort of 'normality' soon.
