Deborah - TAST, Catching UP

Catching up with some stitches I have missed:
Sheaf

Knotted Buttonhole

Linked Double Chain

Beaded Hebago Edge
This turned out to be one of my favorites, and I'll be doing more experimenting with this one.

Stop by my blog, Wednesday Quilter, for a look at all the blocks put together. Still a lot of hand work to do on the center block, but you'll get the idea.

As I said over there, my sister in law and I will be leaving Sunday night for London, then to Tel Aviv. We'll return on October 28th. I'm home for just a few days before leaving for Houston and the Quilt Show.

Happy Stitching!

Cy - CQJP update

I think I am finally getting back to some sort of normality here.
It has definitely been a busy couple of months for me what with work on the farm and the Art Festival work..
My projects for the Arts Festival made the deadline

I have caught up with the TAST stitches, but I have not yet completed my August CQJP, but progress on that block is coming along nicely. Just a few more beads to add, and one more seam needs embellishing.
So the end is in sight. Hopefully will have it finished by next weekend.

So here are the photos of my TAST catch-up stitches. All these are on the August CQJP block.

This one is Pistil Stitch around a Shisha mirror.

Pistil Stitch to couch a ribbon embellishment.

And here is the Sheaf Stitch.

The following pics are varying seam treatments on the August CQJP.

I'm looking forward to another stitching busy week ahead.

Happy Stitching

Angela~ Sheaf Stitch

I worked the top half of my design in the regular manner and played with an alternate for the bottom half.

I like both versions.  Instead of just doing satin stitch for 'Pepsi' I utilized the holes in the aida cloth to space the lines out giving it a completely different look.

Pepsi-Cola was invented by Caleb Bradham on August 28, 1898 as a digestive aid.  It had pepsin in it.  Years later when he sold the company the recipe was changed to just be a soda fountain drink.  Wish they still made the original recipe, there are time I could really use it!

There's a bit more about it on my blog in case you are interested.

Barbara's August CQJP and Sheaf Stitch

One more block in this project is done, four to go.  This one felt like it didn't require as much stitching as the others, probably because of the machine embroidered patch.

Here's a close view of the top portion of the block,

...and here's my Sheaf Stitch, this week's TAST, in blue pearl cotton, at the bottom.

I added some French knots to the patch with the seagull to infuse a bit more blue into this corner.

Louie doesn't quite fit into the sewing room cat bed, but like Cinderella's stepsisters faced with the glass slipper, he tries.

I had a poem in the August issue of the on-line journal The Accentos Review.  And this is a three-day weekend.  Life is good.

Susan: Not Revealing August

But, yo-ho, a little more done. Here is my progress. Most of the block is done, and needs beading, but there's still more to do.

Judy ~ Sheaf Stitch and August Reveal

Wow, I sure hate to see the end of August! Where 2012 is going so fast is beyond me, that's for sure. I used the sheaf stitch to add a little interest to Sue's sleeves and had fun fiddling around with the trim on her dress and bonnet. The cabled chain (it's a silvery grey not blue!) worked perfectly on the swing and was also a good review. Most of these new stitches sure aren't automatic for me yet. Now that I've finished 8 blocks, I'm thinking it's about time for a trip to the fabric store. Any suggestions? Because the blocks are 9 inches, I'll probably just sash them and do a border.  Happy Labor Day to those of you celebrating!
