Susan: Block Three Update

A day when it was mostly snowing (Where is Spring?) provided me with lots of stitching time. None of it is sticking, but there's been over an inch. Now it's coming down a lot again, so it may start collecting as it cools off. Tomorrow is another day like it, according to the weather report - and sixties on Easter. Weird spring! So here's the progress I made during the snow.

Block so far:

Very pretty - I love the red, white and blue. Believe it or not, we had snow flurries here in Atlanta this morning . It's in the 30's. Very weird weather.

I love the feather stitch in its coordinating colors!

Cool fireworks! Maybe some little stars mixed in??

It looks great! Love the panel on the right and the fireworks are really neat in the variegated threads!
We still have snow........although south facing hills are beginning to melt a little, and it was almost +1C at 10:00 this morning. yay!

Yes, it's snowing here right now. It's only sticking on tree limbs and the deck, and like yesterday, that will probably melt shortly - before I have to go to the taxman, I hope! I didn't realize you are in Atlanta! One of these days when I go down there to the temple, we'll have to meet for lunch!

Hmmm. I'll think about that. Might add them, though I like how clean it looks - maybe a few straight stitches and French knots. It' possible. Thanks.

Our temps are about the same right now! I like the look of the whole block this time, though it's more of a challenge to come up with stitches!

You mean you don't have enough reference books?????

March is definitely leaving like a lion! This is going to be such a great quilt/wallhanging! I love this block. The fireworks are such a fun addition, and my favorite kind no less. Way to go!

I meant just the tiniest little shiny star at the end of the fireworks. You've seen them, haven't you?

Love the wavy stitched lines top and bottom, and how you stitched them in opposite colourways, to great effect.
All looks good so far Susan. You have a great eye for design.

Not sure, but that made me remember I have some star sequins. I'll have to check to see the size of them.

Is there such a thing? LOL I have plenty of books, but most of the seams don't have the feeling I want for this quilt, so I keep trying to adapt things and make them less feminine and flowery.

:-)

Yes, CQ tends to be more feminine. You might be able to change the look with your threads and colors. Surely Carole S's book has enough to keep you busy.

I like those co-ordinating feather stitches too but my favorite part is the fireworks!

The little girl looks entranced with the fireworks, and you can't blame her. Love your stitching and colourways.
