Thanks for the nice comments. I can get a little obsessive about the points on those leaves. The space below the group of 3 leaves will be filled with a 3-dimensional flower which will hide the bottoms of the leaves.
I rate my projects by: tedious, a little tedious, and very tedious. Even ones that start out tedious can become very tedious in seconds. It's amazing how that happens!!
Don't sweat the small stuff Deborah, it looks great from where I'm sitting :) This block will be a great addition to your UFO, and I can't wait to see the 3-dimensional flower arrive in its place of prominence.
When I have done applique, I like freezer paper too. I also love to do English Paper Piecing and hope to try some hexagons with embroidered centers. A UFO on my 2013 list are 4 colorwash panels of EPP that need to be assembled into a quilt.

Look at those cute little flower buds!
That's going to be quite a bow!
Nice work! I love applique and your fabric choices. What kind of pen do you use for tracing?
No kidding.
this book has a lot of 3-dimensional techniques. A little tedious but the result is nice.
I'll have to check. I got a new brand at the Sewing Expo.

You could do a close outline stitch around the leaves if it bothers you.
Or, you could use another rule of thumb:
It looks good when dashing by on a fast horse.

I'm with you on the pointy leaf thing. And I like smooth curves. Yours look really good!
Looks wonderful to me too, applique is just not my thing but it sure is pretty.
What about using a fusible backing- that will help keep the points sharp?
Thanks. I really love applique.
Thank you. I probably would have never done applique if I had not learned to use the freezer paper method a long time ago.
Cy, I'm afraid it's just my nature. :-) but I'm getting better as I get older. The flowers really add beautiful texture, and I enjoy making them.
Suz, I use freezer paper. I fold the end at the tip over, then the sides. Usually works, sometimes takes some fiddling...and a few burned fingers....

Your patience is paying dividends.
