Suz: July Joys

There is joy in spending a hot July afternoon in the pursuit of creativity with needle and thread. Here's what I've been doing the past week:

All the Josephine Knot cascades have been tatted for my Heart Pocket. I just need to secure them and add the coloured french knots on the left side.

Two new FME (machine embroidery) lace pieces were created for a new CQ project. The first has snippets of a purple flower pattern on white, and purple organza added. The base is white organza. The thread is a variegated purple.

The second lace piece  uses the same thread and purple organza snippets on a turquoise organza base. These lace pieces are fun to do.

There is more progress on my Waves piece, and I hope to have all the waves completed by next week.
Wrapping Cloth piece #13  received a little attention, too, with buttonhole lace
a fancy frill added to the cutwork

fancy frill added to the side of  this pocket

and buttonhole lace added to the edges of three pockets
  Now, piece #13 is finished!

On to piece #14

My desk was piled with fabrics for the new CQ piece.

The first block is ready for titivations.

These wee tatted flowers were tucked into an envelope, and are on their way to Australia. I hope DGD Jewel likes them.

The weatherman is predicting another hot and humid week, so maybe I'll get more stitching done!

Hope you've had a fun and creative week.

Hugs from Suz

Susan: Heart Swap

A little beading and embellishment and this heart is almost ready to become something else for a swap.

Judy~Back Home and Jet-Lagged!

I've been AWOL for two weeks because we were gone on an adventure!  We went to Europe and explored Amsterdam, Brussels, Cologne, Aachen, and Leipzig. Dick took hundreds of photos, and I even took a few. I don't have any stitching to show, and even though I did a fair bit of knitting on the plane and train, I think you'd rather see a couple of photos from the Lace and Costume Museum in Brussels.  Lace and chocolate are part of my memories from this city, and there were many shops everywhere for both.

Here are someone's bobbins all set up for creating some beautiful lace.  I can't imagine trying to follow that kind of pattern.

This little doll is hard at work, and you can see the amazing piece behind her. Both were on display in a shop window.

This was just one of many pieces in the museum. There was no way to photograph all of them! There also was an exhibit of clothing from the thirties that was very interesting. This dress caught my eye.  Another featured under garments, including girdles.  Do any of you remember those?!

Other photos are on my blog, but I thought you'd enjoy some of these the most.  I have lots of catching up to do with UFOs but don't even feel guilty. Our trip was too much fun!  Have a great week!
