Hello--
I have been stitching! but I keep missing my posting time!
I put buttonhole wheel cups and closed base needlewoven picots in this floral motif, along with some whipped wheels, bullions, and cast-on flowers. They may be a little hard to see because the colors are similar and the stitches are so crowded, but that actually is what I was trying to accomplish: a very encrusted section similar to several that Sharon has used as illustrations.
(As usual, this is importing sideways--don't know why!) (The kitty is a motif put on a year or so ago; this block is one of my UFO's!)
In another spot, I tried a motif with a button, a charm, and various flowers:
Finally, I tried the knotted loop stitch on two lines, trying to make the arms of the stitches close to parallel, even though the seams are not parallel. As I continue working on this, I want to try to "encrust" embellishment in the pointed area of the bottom of the figure. Don't know yet how it will turn out, but. . . what are UFO's for, if not to experiment!!

Cy - Trying to Catch up
Hi everyone, sorry I'm so far behind with my CQ, and I still haven't got around to seeing, and commenting on, all your lovely work from last week.
I am determined that I WILL catch up, but probably not until the end of December, lol.
I managed to get a few buttonhole cups stitched on the 'bright cushion' for my mum.
I managed to get a few buttonhole cups stitched on the 'bright cushion' for my mum.
I have some extra great news to follow that.
Next week is my mum's 90th birthday. I have been making this cushion for her in bright colours and deep textures because she has very poor eyesight.
She lives in England with the rest of the family. I live in New Zealand.
This week (Tuesday 13th Nov) I have got a plane ticket to UK.
I can't believe I am actually going to give this present to my mum in person, on her birthday next week. I am so excited.
The cushion is in need of the green TAST needle-weaving leaves, and I shall get some of them done during the long (very long) flight and travelling times. 26 hours actually in flight - 6 hours in the transit lounges in Sydney & Abu Dhabi - then 5 or 6 hours from Heathrow on trains until I reach my destination.
Did I tell you I'm excited......

Angela~ Buttonhole Wheel Cups & Finished Pages
On to week 43 and the buttonhole wheel cups. These were fun to do and I used them on the Great Karnak's headdress where the ostrich plumes are at.
The white perle cotton on a white background is kind of hard to see so here's a darkened closeup.

I spent many a night watching Johnny Carson and no one can hold a candle to him as a talk show host.

Debra: TAST- Buttonhole Wheel Cups/Fans
I liked Carol's fan idea for the inner patch border so decided to try my hand at it as a Buttonhole Wheel Fan. It works well with the other side of my patch that has the Hedebo Edging. So, overall, a good experiment. You do need to pay attention to the way the threads lay down so there aren't any twists (unlike mine). I like the way the detached buttonhole gives the edge a little more prominence. I'll be using this stitch again!
