Yay, Blogger decided to let me see the posting page! I am involved in a round robin on a small list to which I belong, and that's where I did some truly awful Cast On Stitches on the feather vine. The whole orange triangle is my work from two passes of this round robin.

Let's hope the person to whom the block belongs doesn't read this blog!
From here your red flowers look like poppies and I can't see anything wrong with them. Love how you've integrated the turquoise fabric with the orange.
Looks great to me too. Very pretty.
Even zoomed in close, I think they're adorable. :) Great color combos, too!
Thank you for your kind comments. I wanted them to lie down nice and flat, but they never do. They look so good on the needle, and them wham, they twist or pop up when I pull it through. =) But I like them well enough. Just not as much as I like everyone else's!
Thanks. It was the first time I got to use that turquoise hand dyed. It's a thread from Yarnplayer, and it's dyed crochet thread, which is a little stiffer than the regular cotton, but it does stitch nicely.
A great variety of stitches on that orange triangle. Your cast-on stitches look good to me. Love your mandala too.
Mine pop up too. I "massage" them into the right curve before I put the needle in for the final stitch so they don't twist.
Thanks for that tip Debra and will remember the next time I "cast on" . Mind don't seem to want to sit down properly. It's ok for SBS on her swing.
Nice threads! I love Yarnplayers' HDT's! I've found that when I make too many cast-ons for the length of thread, they pop up, so maybe you might try fewef cast-ons to see if they'll lie flatter. To avoid the twisting, I hold the stitches between my thumb and forefinger on my left hand while I pull the thread through with the right hand. It seems to help.
Nice stitching!
If you put your final stitch close to the first stitch you are making a circle and the stitches arch to fill that circle so they pop up.
If you put your final stitch a longer distance from the first stitch, they will lay down.
Love that circle surrounded by the feather flowers! Your cast on flowers look fine to me. I think the "pop-up" makes them look like real flowers although I had twist issues also. Cute ladybug button!
I agree with Judy, your flowers look very natural and windblown. I'd change my story and say it was intentional.
