Suz- TAST, CQJP, Shisha

I'd hoped to have more pics to show you of my WIPs for StitchMAP, but I'm not quite finished, yet. Next week, perhaps........so I'll just show my blog post:
TAST- Bullion
I don't know why it's called a bullion knot stitch.....I think it should be called a bullion wrap instead. Seems to me I've wrapped the thread around the needle at least a bullion times....lol.....(sorry)
I've been making bullions:
DH calls them worms......

I have variegated green bullions
and more, here....

there's so many

I wonder why they're all together like that.....

they do look like worms, crawling over each other.....
oh, look! It's a tree!....well...sort of......

and the tree topper?

it's supposed to be  Shisha, but I used a really large sequin for the mirror, and tried the shisha stitch to secure it

in the top of the 'mirror' is a smaller silver sequin, then a green sequin topped with a red crystal
you can see the sequin shape and a bit of the stitching. This is as close as I could get, so sorry it's somewhat blurry

The tree is on my May CQJP

Mr, Snowman is admiring the lovely Christmas tree.

I'm sure he'd be pointing to it, if he only had arms.........

hmmm, the tree topper isn't centered.....

so it looks a lot like our Christmas trees........lol

Mr. S was getting a little unruly-looking, so I used some silver metallic thread and buttonhole stitch around the outside of his 'snow' to tame the threads.

He's staring at me with his black crystal eyes.
I think he wants arms, don't you?

I hope that you're doing something you enjoy.

Your comments are welcomed.

Hugs from Suz

Suz, your bullions are really really creepy and very lifelike and I can almost see the things moving!!!
(BTW your green variegated thread is wonderful, is it perle?)

I've already commented on your blog, but I forgot to tell you I was laughing as I read through this because I kept thinking of your "a bullion time" comment. You are so funny. I enjoy slapstick humor. Great stitching.

That is a great use for the bullion knot Suz. It has a very 'real' look for a pine tree with the different greens. It would be a perfect addition for a landscape embroidered picture.
Nice work on the shisha too.

Nice work! Maybe you could give Mr. Snowman some twiggy arms? Love the tree and its topper!

Thanks Carol. Hmmm, an idea for a creepy block heheheh
I used a variety of threads, and some were unknown as I received them as a gift, but I also used embroidery floss, as well as Caron Wildflowers.

Thank you, Connie. Life is too dry without some humor in it, I think. I'm glad you enjoyed.

I can actually 'see' that landscape with hundreds of evergreen trees all done in bullions.....looks good, too, but I wouldn't want to stitch it! Not even for a bullion dollars! (groan, I know, but I just had to!) Thanks.

That's in the plan, Judy, thanks. I tried that topper 3 times using metallic thread, but it just wouldn't work right.

They really are beautiful specimens! Shudder, shudder. If Sue Grafton wanted an illustration for one of her mystery stories picture number 3 would win a prize. So overcome forgot to mention your sisha which is really good and Mr Snowman is adorable.

Suztats said...

That would be so cool! Thank you.

Creepy is the word. But very creative! Once you get get back from it, it is not creepy at all. The variegation looks pretty cool!

I liked the trimmed up snowman better. I was having some trouble understanding a fuzzy snowman.
The tree is creepy but maybe with some little gold stars that twinkle, it will not look like worms are crawling all over it.

You are really good at experimenting. I enjoy that about your posts.

Carol-Ann said...

Oh, Debra, I hadn't actually mentioned that word, now I'm shuddering all the more!! "Ws" with gold stars that twinkle, what next?

Suztats said...

There's always room for a little creepy, as long as it's not gross.....muahaha.....
I love variegated threads! Except for floss, and a few perles, most of the thread I have is variegated.

The stars are a good idea, Debra. (First I thought of using a sparkly thread for a garland, and then I thought someone might think they were silk worms spinning their silk and creating webs.......or beads as decorations, but they might look like eyes.......okay, enough creepy)lol
Mr. S did need a little trim. His eyes and nose were disappearing into the fuzz. Thanks Debra.

That is the most interesting tree! I kind of liked the wild, wooly snowman, but this looks good, too - yeah, definitely some arms! Maybe some "garland" will be next on the tree?

:-))

Suztats said...

You never know what might show up on the block, CQ4fun! Some arms for sure. Garland, I haven't decided yet.........
The problem with wild and wooly Mr. S was that all the wooloness was getting caught up in the bullions. So a trim was in order.

*wooliness*

Wow! I believe you wrapped "a bullion times"--that's a lot of bullion knots. And you really opened a can of worms :) with that remark!

Connie Eyberg Originals said...

I could knot agree more ;-)

Suztats said...

Jenclair, you are so funny!
I must say that after making all those worms, I'm really hooked on bullions. Just don't wait with baited breath for the next billion bullion post. tee hee

worms with gold stars that twinkle? GlowWorms!!

I love the texture of your bullion tree, and the variegated threads really make it look wonderful!
I think the snowman is fabulous the way he is, but yah, he might like arms too. Maybe he could be hanging an ornament on the tree?

Debra Dixon said...

Having him hang an ornament on the tree is a good idea.

ROFLOL!

Suztats said...

ROFLMAO!!
"Glow little glow worm,
Glimmer, glimmer"
Anyone else remember that song, or am I aging myself, again?

Suztats said...

That's a super idea, Peacock! I may steal...err...borrow that one.....
