Week 18: Crossed Buttonhole. I have to say, this is a stitch I had never encountered. I have the technique down but do I need to practice!
I was a little worried about the wavy line but looking at examples on Sharon B's page, I see others like this. Is it "supposed" to be straight?
Week 19: Half Chevron. Another new stitch for me. Again, I get the technique but will need to work on perfection! ;-)
This is the beginning of my May block, and this one will be my mother's.
I just wanted to get these under my belt & get caught up. Much distraction the last couple of weeks.

These were both new stitches for me too Deborah. It looks to me like you have them down quite well. I'm going to check out your blog now. Nice catching up this week.
Not sure why you say you need practice, they look great!
Seems like the crossed buttonhole is a little wonky but I'm kind of hypercritical ... but once you start with the embellishments, it all seems to work out.
Thanks Connie. Hopefully I am back on track and can keep a regular stitching schedule. ;-)
Lovely neat stitching Deborah. We all get better at it with practice, but as Angela says above, not sure why you need more practice as they are already great.
I don't see anything wrong. The key to embroidery is to be consistent and your stitching looks consistent to me.
Looks good to me, too, Deborah! Your half chevron looks wonderful, and I really like the thread. Is it perle?
We are here to learn and your stitches look great.
Exactly---it's tough for some of us veterans from patchwork to get back into the "beginner's chair" but that is exactly what happens when you change genres.
Be gentle on yourself, do the stitching, learn the process and move on to the next stitch. If you stay in one spot trying to be perfect with everything, you will get stuck in that one spot.
It's just regular old DMC.
Your stitches look good to me. As you mentioned in a comment, it all works out with the embellishment, but you have a solid, consistent base to work on. Mom's block as in commemorating your mother?
Deborah, your half-chevron is gorgeous! and I like your crossed buttonhole just fine. Perfection is over-rated. Character is built through the accummulation of imperfections, just like smile-lines. :)
