At the quilt retreat, I joined my four Family blocks together. I have a few more embellishments to add to the "Journey" block, and coins, buttons, and beads to add to all of them. Then I'll do some embellishments on the borders, and it'll be almost finished!
Here are some pics:
On top of it all, we are having picture-postcard-perfect weather here in Western Washington, so the desire to be outside and in the garden in overwhelming!
I hope to have more to post next week, but since I don't get back from LA until Monday night, it'll have to be Tuesday or Wednesday!

Just lovely stitching! I can see a few spots that would be pretty with some shisha embroidery. Your dark border is very dramatic. I hope you have a pretty set of floral swags planned for it.
Your 4 panels are beautiful. The border sets it all off so nicely. I like the contrast since you also have a touch of the dark within the blocks. Lovely stitching too. Beautiful button cluster. I really like the way you have attached the buttons and surrounded them with chain stitch to finish them off.
I love your "flower" button cluster surrounded by stitched leaves and vine and the cream sprays on the dark fabric in the bottom picture are pretty. Great to see the blocks together and feel sure your mother will adore every little stitch.
This is a gorgeous quilt. Everything works so well together. The colours, the embellishment, the stitchery. All so beautiful. An heirloom piece if ever I saw one.
The owner of this will have a quilt to treasure.
Love this piece - very traditional "old lace" feeling to it. Is that a buttonhole stitch holding the buttons on in the third pic from the bottom? The color of the thread has a flax-linen feel to it.
Your SRE roses are beautiful! Love the colours as they seem to generate a timelessness to your blocks. You've done some wonderful stitching, and I agree the buttons are fab in the leaf cluster.
Sounds like your days will be filled!
This is going to be a treasured quilt! Wonderful stitching on your "memories" block, especially the button cluster and SRE. Love all the motifs actually.
Carolynn, I love the way you attached your mother-of-pearl buttons! The fine thread spokes add interest while still emphasizing the beauty and shine of the buttons themselves.
