It's been very inspirational to work the TAST and the Crazy Quilt Journal Projects alongside my sister stitchers on the Tuesday Stitchers blog. This week I
I had to trim the tree branches a bit to make it fit the space, but after I was satisfied with the placement, I ironed it down. Now there was no going back.
I've also been inspired by the way several of the Tuesday Stitchers have stacked their TAST stitches, and also the free form approach some have taken. I filled my tree with chevron stitch in a rustic way. I added some heart buttons that Debra sent me, which provide the pop of red I was looking for. I'll add more later after I add a bird to the long branch on the right.

That was quick turnaround time on those buttons. I haven't even opened my package of them yet!

Your use of the Chevron stitch on the tree is very clever and adds a nice texture. It is nice to have all the black broken up. I guess I would have to refer you all to the reply I made when Jane asked about my background fabric. I do all my stitching (almost anyway) in my rocking chair.
Wow, what a great effect that Chevron had to put the bark on that tree. You crack me up in that you already "grew" a tree and I have yet to "plant" the seed. I do like the look and the buttons make great little leaves. You're popping that red in there in unexpected ways
I love seeing photos of work spaces too. Nice and bright... It's not hard to see how you're creative ideas expand when you have yourself surrounded by all that good stuff to work with.
That's a mess? It's my goal to get my workspace that neat. Love the tree & the use of chevron. Very nice.

I'm glad you don't mind that I snipped your idea and planted it in my block. I think I'll need a few more trees before all is said and done.
I suppose mess, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
The chevron stitch really softened the look of your funky tree and created interesting bark. I like the way you're moving the red around your block, too. What kind of bird will you add to the tree?
I find it so much easier to embrace other people's "chaos" than to accept my own! I really envy people who can work in organized spaces and keep them organized! I seem to start out organized and it all turns to chaos before I can even blink!
Isn't it wonderful how starting to work can generate future work and ideas? Your butterfly is wonderful! I love the way you used chevron stitch to fill the tree, and I really like the blue seam line where you overlapped herringbone stitch! The hearts are a fabulous touch for your tree-- so fairytale like!

The whole block is looking gorgeous now. Very "country-fied" and scenic. It sort of tells a story.
Thanks for sharing your workspace too. I see your iPod (or similar) is an important piece of equipment there too. What music do you like listening to while working?
Isn't it wonderful to have all the inspiration of other stitchers here at T.S. AND all the others at Pintangle? I love the creative choices being made--and hope I can remember a few when needed.
Your tree is a great addition to the block, and the chevron stitches give such wonderful texture. :) I worried, too, about having enough ideas to carry me through, but now it appears that each week brings new possibilities!
I listen to knitting podcasts like Fiber Beat, Cast On, and Stash and Burn. I also just downloaded some old Elton John, and after watching the Grammys with my daughter I downloaded some old Glen Campbell and the new Adele album.
Love the tree, thanks for showing your process on it. I loved seeing your work space. I used to work on a table, when I lived in the fifth wheel, but now I find myself more working on the end of the sofa. A little tricky for beading, but possible. =) It is inspiring to see everyone's work, and I keep finding things I want to steal away!
