Deborah: TAST Week 2 - Buttonhole

Buttonhole Stitch

A useful stitch with lots of possibilities. Most people have probably used this stitch before, but I would have never imagined some of the creative ways it's being applied.
See application on my CQ block at my blog
 Sorry this is so brief!

How did you stitch that purple line of buttonholes? where they look connected? that's cool- are they touching in one of the lines and a little straight stitch in the other line?

Nice variations, Deborah!

Wonderful variations, the row of flowers is very pretty, you could do it with beads instead of french knots for a different look too.

I, too, like the purple flowers, both sets! And the little blue "cloud". The purple line would make a pretty ribbon! Off to see your blog; thanks for the link.

Love your row of dancing flowers, lol. The scroll has a very "snail-like" organic look to it, I might have to pinch that one from you <3

I very much like both of your flower-looking rows. Lots of variations. One of the things I like about the stitch is that it can be embellished with anything!

Love the flowers, Deborah! And the button hole with fly stitches in between!

Sweet little flowers! I like how you are using multiple stitches together to create interesting combinations.

Debra, I stitched one row of buttonholes then the second row upside down so that the long stitches met - does that make sense? Then I just did a running stitch where they met. You could thread ribbon or thread through the loops. For some reason, this stitch is really satisfying although that 22 count Aida is hard on the eyes sometimes! LOL. Thanks for all the comments. If you visit my blog, please say hi!

I've been trying to get to your blog but I can't seem to get connected, especially if I follow a link. I'll try again today.

Thanks for the explanation--sometimes it is hard to tell by the picture.

You came up with some really creative variations. I especially like the rounded one.
