I used buttonhole stitch as the basis of this seam treatment. I like the way the flowers are growing in both directions. Other stitches include: French knot and lazy daisy.
The whole block is progressing nicely. I've added a few stalks of wheat, and a fly stitch composition. The hummingbird is a project for this week. You can see a few more
details on my blog.

I really enjoy your bold seam treatments. They have great character & emphasis.
Thanks for posting your pic in the large format too (so I didn't have to go in and do it!). It makes it much easier to see the work.
Wonderful! I love some of these treatments!
I am really loving this block Barbara! It keeps getting better and better! The pink stitched flowers just pop and really bring out the bold pink in the image. The fabrics, the nature theme and the textures of the white flower and wheat are perfect!
I love that seam treatment. I, too, like that the flowers go both ways.
I agree this is a super block! Everything goes together so well, and the colours are carried around the block beautifully.
Love that hummingbird-to-be! And the tuny button flowers. Beautiful stitching, Barbara!
Make that tiny flowers.....;)
I love how realistic your natural elements are! Your dandelion and your wheat and your hyacinths are all gorgeous and well-proportioned and immediately identifiable! I love the pink running stitches you added to the thistle print- it's a really nice touch of texture. The hummingbird is going to be so cute!
Thanks for all the encouraging comments. It does give me an incentive to keep this project moving along.
This is so lovely and all of your stitches look wonderful!! I really like the dandelion gone to seed :)
