Cy - Finished Block 12

December 2012 Block finished.
This block is dedicated to my dearest mother who passed away on 1 December 2012.

This small lace bookmark was made by my mother.

This lace trim was also made by my mum (I added the beads)

Mum also made this crochet piece. It was an experimental test for the wings of an angel.

The following piece of lace was made by mum too. It was unfinished.

These three stars represent my sister, my brother, and myself.
My brother is the silver star as he is already in heaven and shining as bright as a star.

The centre sparkly piece was in my mums jewellery box.
I surrounded it with pearls as mum loved her pearl necklaces. She had rather a lot of pearl necklaces.
The four hearts are for her four children.

And this is mums butterfly brooch. It is taking the place of my usually stitched butterfly as the centre piece for this block.

Happy Stitching

Angela ~ December Reveal

The last Tuesday of the year fell on Christmas Day.
The OCD part of me just could not leave a blank page even though TAST was officially declared done the week before.
So here's all 52 pages for the year.
January's task will be to put them together in book form.

FFb2Fin Here's the second border finished. Mostly. There are a few things I'll have to do when the top and bottom borders are attached. I can't believe I've gotten this far. Here are some close-ups. Click to enlarge any of them.

And the whole project, so far:

I'm working on the top border now, and have the bottom border partially pieced. I looked at places that I want to carry the stitching from one piece to another, across block and border piecing lines. I don't think I'll actually need to stitch across many, just carry the design over to the other side. I discovered from re-reading the rules that the whole project doesn't have to be finished, just 12 parts done. I can do that!

Here she is, Seattle Sue, holding an umbrella to ward off the rain. My twelve blocks are finished and now need to be rinsed to remove the pattern lines and then pressed. Hopefully, none of the thread will run! All that remains is to sash the blocks, attach the borders (I found a great thirties print for them.) and then quilt it. LOL

For me 2013 is going to be the Year of the UFOs! I have so many UFOs of all types, including lots of half done stitcheries, and they're going to be my focus. I am, however, going to try to complete a CQ heart as per Suz's Sandy Hook project. So there you have it. Happy 2013 to all my stitching friends! May it be happy and healthy and include lots of stitching.

Final block is Red Violet. I'm happy to have worked through this project-trying all the colors on the color wheel-something I have wanted to do for awhile. Next steps will be to finish as a wallhanging. For this block I just chose some stitches I enjoyed and didn't concentrate on any specific TAST stitches. The embroidery had a "crafty" feel to it so I accented with crafty embellishments.
