Cy - not much to reveal

It seems I'm not the only one who has done very little embroidery this week. I think our weather here has something to do with me falling asleep all the time instead of stitching. I feel like I want to hibernate. Insomnia, when I had it, was good for my productiveness. I could stitch 24 hours a day then, lol. But not now though.

I've made the 'naked block for my June CQJP
I'm looking forward to embellishing all these lovely seams.

By the way, I don't know if anyone has noticed (or is even interested, lol) that I have tried to keep the darker fabrics towards the middle of all my blocks.
The reason I have planned this into the making of the blocks is so that the sashing only has the white & greys to contrast or blend with. It will make the choosing of the colour for the sashing much easier when the time comes. Even if I stick with my original idea of having black sashing, the white & greys of the blocks will look good next to it.

BJP (bead journal project)

The other project I have been working on this week is my teardrop bjp.

Autumn Teardrop Pendant

It is Autumn here in NZ now, Isn't it a beautiful time of year.
My pendant this month is using some familiar autumn colours.
There are some more photos on my blog of this.

Hoping for a more enthusiastic and productive week ahead.

All comments and critiques gratefully received.

Cy - Reveal - TAST & BJP

TAST catch-up & BJP

Here I am with another round-up of my stitching adventures over the last couple of weeks.
My online time had been drastically reduced to almost zilch, but all is well again now and I should be back into the swing of things again soon.

TAST

I got a bit behind with my TAST stitching but I think I am all caught up again now with these following pics.

Whipped Spider Wheel
with Whipped Spiral & Whipped Fan Variations

Barred Chain Stitch

Satin Stitch

This fluffy stuff is actually fan shaped spider wheels, lol.

Spiral Whipped Wheel & Satin Stitch

Barred Chain Stitch
I totally lost the plot with this stitch and ended up just 'doing-my-own-thing' with it.
I might attempt this stitch at another time when I have the instructions actually in font of me.

Cy - Reveal TAST, CQJP & BJP

(Sorry I missed my scheduled slot because of 'the boating' thing. So slotting in at the end of the weekend).

TAST Week 4 - Cretan Stitch
I enjoyed creating these variations of the stitch and will definitely 'play' some more with it.

From left to right the stitches are:

Cretan Stitch in lilac
Various stitch lengths and widths in navy blue
Knotted Cretan in light blue
(this one took a bit of coaxing to get it right, and even then I had trouble getting the knots to stay in place, but I persevered with it)
Raised Cretan in green
Open Double Raised Cretan in green

CQJP - January WIP

The 'naked block' is 9" square.
I have only got this one made so far.

And just a bit of stitching added here

The Crazy Quilt journal project is my most dominant and time consuming WIP.
I like the addition of the lilac and aubergine coloured threads, and I shall be keeping to threads in blues, teals, turquoise and purples. Along with black, white and greys.
The ribbon embroidery and bead embellishments will probably be in the same colours as well.

Lots more embroidery to add yet, and then the beads!!!
Busy, busy, busy (but very enjoyable).

Very pleased with how this pendant turned out, and looking forward to creating a different pendant for February.

Cy - Reveal week 2

What a week............. the only trouble with getting on with the stitching is that I don't have enough time left to catch up with what others are doing on here. Stitching is good though so I hope you will bear with me while I try to sort out my 'online' time better.

Revealing week 2.

TAST - Buttonhole stitch.

My experimenting with this stitch was good. Tried a couple of new (to me) variations, and I'm well pleased with the result for my journal page.

Stitches include - back-to-back buttonhole, 4 variations of wrapped buttonhole, V-buttohole couching, alternate sides buttohole couching. slanting buttonhole, length pattern, layered and graded buttonhole, outline buttonhole, wheel, ridged buttonhole, bar (or detached) buttonhole.

CQJP - January

I still haven't got even one block made up yet. I need to find a whole day when I can get my sewing machine out and get cracking on this. But I have, at least pulled together all the parts to complete my project. So you can see that I haven't exactly been idle on this challenge.

Threads - Beads - Buttons etc.

BJP - January

My shape for this challenge has ended up a Teardrop.
The starting point for this piece is my own hand-made black and gold scroll bead that didn't make it into a necklace in it's own right (poor thing).
I thought the orange felt background was suitable for showing off both the black and the gold. All other colours that I auditioned had a muted effect on one colour, and I want both colours to stand out equally on this.

And then I started the embellishing with gold beads.
