My block is coming along nicely. More thought goes into the block than actual stitching howsomever!
I apologize for the lighting on the block, at 4am there isn't a drop of natural light to be found. (If you suggest I do it a day ahead, you really don't know me, lol.)
Would love your suggestions for the large area left of center, it needs to be something with a meander to it, for movement, I just haven't found it yet. I plan to do some small seam treatments on the other 2 remaining seams that carry behind the flower, and something to make the lace sections a bit more interesting (need suggestions there too please).
Looks like I'm soon to be approaching the 2nd block...no stopping me now!

What size is your block?
Do you have a theme or some elemental ideas you plan to repeat on some or all the blocks?
Are you introducing any more green into the block?
What are some of the other embellishments that may/may not be going on this block?
I can see a wavy or curving group of line coming from the bottom corner. Maybe with little flowers or leaves or beads on them. You could use a fly stitch maybe or lazy daisy.

I like where you put that flower and I keep seeing some kind of stitching that marks that V under it. Wavy would be good. I wish you could come over and look through my Carole Samples book, and some of the others, but Dimity's Fibers may give you some inspiration. I know one of the golden fan blocks had something that caught my eye, and I'll be using it soon!
BTW, I like the stitching you added this week, especially the netting above the top lace, against the golden brown fabric. Gives it such a romantic look.
Oh! I was supposed to have a plan? Not my style I'm afraid. I just like to see where my muse takes me! I am drawn to steampunk, and have some bits in that regard...and trying to figure out how to work them in.
Yes, that where I want to originate the stem, still shoppin'!
Thank you. Wanted to work that stitch in somewhere, and knew it would help tame the lumpiness that was created during the block construction. I'll study the Dimity's Fibers, thank you for the link.
I guess you'll need to listen to your muse and see what happens.
Woohoo.... I heard a mention of steampunk and my ears pricked up. A couple of bold gold (or bronzy) buttons or cogs would look great in that area. I'm liking this more and more each time I see it.
the block is looking great! How about some beading in the laces that you want to make more interesting? or maybe do some extra stitching on them with threads that add a bit of contrast to them?
I keep getting those out...and keep putting them away. Haven't found exactly the right spot for what I do have. Love those little fly wheels!

Ooooh, I love this! Such nice tone on tone with a few subtle colours! Great stitching. This has a wonderful feel to it!
I can see a wavy line of chain stitch in there, or multiple lines, and stitching on the lace or adding a ruffled ribbon or trim to the lace, or even french knots or bullions. Cast-on stitch circles or flowers would repeat the flowers of the lace....
and, of course, there's always a little metal chain......with or without thread sprouts poking through it. or you could add a real or stitched zipper. Or using some fab thread, make a chain and sew it down, add metallic beads, or rusty lace, small metal spokes for the lace flower centers, a meandering vine....
How do you get your stitches so dadgum even and straight! :-) this is my bugaboo! Thus the blue pen.
I mark everything with a purple disappearing pen aided with a small ruler! I don't kid tho, the lattice was taken out twice before I could get it right...I just couldn't get my brain around the direction I wanted to go.

I generally don't mark much of anything. When I do, I just make a little dot here and there.
I like the "hand" of embroidery, much like handwriting, that shows a person's style more than a perfect template stitch. I've found that I generally get into a rhythm & my stitching is uniform and consistent.
