Simply beautiful, Debra. I so love the big snowflake in that last picture! That's the perfect name for this quilt, too. I'm so happy to see it finished. Are you going to hang it in your house each winter?
Most of the embellishments are Dollar Store Christmas ornaments & garland. The snowflake you like is from a pair of earrings.
I'm happy to see this finished too. Figuring out I could machine quilt the outer border was the step that pushed me off the plateau. From there it was easy to finish.

I was going to ask about all the snowflakes........gee, I was thinking at first glance that they were all machine embroidered! (Wouldn't that have been fun?) Then I recognized some of the snowflakes, and looked at the other photos.......
What a fabulous start to 2014 with the completion of this quilt. How did you get the idea for the kaleidoscope Madonna's? They are a great addition, and I absolutely love the wavy lines of snowflakes. The blue and cream cq border really doesn't need any more stitching than that. It pushes the focal points of the Madonna's in the middle. I like it... I really like it.
It doesn't show much in the pictures but I stitched those built-in stitch combinations from my domestic machine on a lot of the seams. I had just purchased my Janome and thought that would be a swell idea (it actually sucked sitting there stitching those --so slow). So, when I decided to machine quilt the outer border, I figured it was in keeping with the machine stitched seam decorations.
The kaleidoscopic Madonna "snowflakes" came to me because I had (at that time) just purchased the software. I think this is the only time I used it! In a way, a few of them are a bit creepy!
This piece came way before any of the embroidery machines showed up at my house. I am always a little nervous adding embroidery into a finished or mostly finished project because if I make a mistake, the project could be potentially ruined.
You.are.amazing. This is just beautiful...I have SO much to learn!!! I've looked at this piece several times today, and each time I do I discover something new. Way to go.

Very nice finish. The snowflakes blend the inner and outer sections very smoothly. It's interesting to see so little embroidery in this piece
... and yet the snowflakes add that stitch-like element. (Google cut me off in mid-comment).
