I plan to be done knitting this afghan by the end of the week. I thought I would have used all the turquoise yarn I had but unfortunately, I only used about ½ of it. Sooo, the next afghan for my nephew's wife will be a variation of this one. I'll be using this turquoise yarn again but with some lighter shades of pink yarn. It should be interesting to see the difference.
I have really enjoyed the one piece knitting; not having to worry about sewing any panels or blocks together. Toward that end, I looked through the 365 Knitting Stitches a Year Perpetual Calendar for some new stitches I thought would be good solid knits suitable for warm afghans.
These are the 3 candidates:

Now this is my kind of knitting! Simple and easy instructions and very repetitive.
Mine too. I would prefer to let the yarn and colors do the design work.
I'm not accomplished enough to do anything more complicated, so I tend to stick to the simpler stitches......I like the looks of your 3 choices.
It'll be interesting to see the difference it makes having pink added to the turquoise.

Last week I would have told you "take-a-hike, I cant knit, so I wont be joining in the afghan-athon" ---- this week I can say "bring it on...I CAN knit.

Round up your yarn and let's pick a stitch! As you can see, the colors did all the work of my last afghan. Although it did have a lovely valley-hill effect with the faux cable. I've decided the only way I will stay dedicated is if the pattern is easy.

I like all 3 of those patterns. Hard to choose one. I actually understand the instructions now too. It used to be a foreign language to me. Wow have I come a long way in week.

I may as well throw it onto the pile. I like something that I can memorize easily as I like to do some knitting in the evenings while watching TV. I'd love a knitted afghan. I may use some bulky yarn so it will knit up quickly.

Still slogging across 793 stitches on the shawl, and since I've done one baby blanket this year, I think I'd better stick to my UFO pile. However, some day I am going to crochet one of Barbara's afghans. BTW, I really like the way the basket stitch looks, but the others are nice too. Knit on!!!
I like that basket stitch too, but I'm swatching for a sweater now that the weather is turning.

I shall likely be finishing an afghan/blanket i started last year for our son, and will no doubt whip up a few scarves this winter, but it's still been too hot here for knitting........ I'll cheer, too! I'll wait for cooler weather to knit....and for my company to return home....
that's why I knit in the air conditioning! Ha!
Ummm, air conditioning? We don't have that! Could have used it this summer during the heat wave, but........oh, well........did break down and pick up a mini-portable one for the bedroom for those nights when it's too hot to sleep.......won't be knitting there...hahahaha

Oh! was I meant to do a swatch first, lol. I've gone ahead and got a couple inches done on a baby blanket.
Of course you did! and I would have except last time I tried to wing it, my math was horribly wrong (or was it my logic) and the piece was humongous!!!
