I forgot to show you what I did with my pale yellow first knitting practice piece.
And here is my finished Baby Building Blocks Blanket.
Finished by candle-light last night as we have had power cuts with the gales from the tropical storm that swept North Island.
It's not as 'straight edged' as I'd like, but hey! I'm just happy that I can knit now, lol.
Happy Stitching

Another skill to add to your already impressive resume!
All thanks to the inspirational group of Tuesday Stitchers who "planted" the seed in my head.
Wonderful! You can block your afghan in you have a place large enough to lay it out and leave it. Just dampen it and lay it out like on a sheet and straighten it up by pushing it around. Mom used to do our sweaters like that.
A good idea, thank you. I'll give that a go and see if I can straighten those wonky edges.
My mom pins her knitting to those cardboard cutting boards we used to use for dressmaking. They have handy grids for alignment.
Good for you! I love the little hat. Doesn't knitting always have to be blocked somehow? I see some rods Judy Laquidara uses.
Cute hat on that Teddy! And I like the way you finished it. Blocking your blanket should help the edges; if it's acrylic yarn, you can also steam it carefully but don't put the iron on the fabric. Looks to me like you picked up knitting really fast! Great work!
You took to knitting like a duck to water. Very nice work, it's a little addictive, isn't it?
Your blanket and hat turned out great! Way to go! You must be a quick study.
Looks like you've been knitting all your life. Both projects look great.
