My March block is finished! I added a bit of tatting, a herringbone variation in variegated pink, chain stitch half circles, and some cast-on chains.

there are more embellishments in the works for this piece, and soon I'll create a second section of my wrapping cloth.
I bit the bullet, and made some rouleau loops with my wild fabric, so you may be seeing more wild on section number 2.

Love your March block, Suz. What exactly is a wrapping cloth? Whatever it is, it's going to be fabulous. All that beautiful stitching....
All that white space to fill would be giving me hives. You, on the other hand, can easily rise to the occasion!
Thanks Judy. A wrapping cloth is one made and stitched by hand, composed of different sections of cloth, embellished, joined together and backed with another fabric.
A wrapping cloth is the name Karen gave her cloth: it’s to wrap someone you love-basically a cloth they can use like an afghan. Since it’s all stitched by hand, it’s created with lots of love, in which the recipient wraps themselves. Well, that’s the idea, anyway, but each person might have their own concept--making a wall hanging instead, or creating a bag of one sort or another. Mine is intended as a wrapping cloth to enfold me and mine on cool evenings.
I'm aiming for 4'x5' or so, but that may change along the way. ;-)
I think that's my favourite part, Debra, all that bare fabric to cover with surface embroidery........heaven. Now, if I only had another pair of hands and an extra 12 hours stitching time every day....hahahah

Loving this project of yours Suz. I've been admiring Karen's work for a while now, and was inspired to start 'gathering' LOTS of whites etc. for a project I have in mind to start later this year.
I love how your wrapping cloth has accents of colour, sometimes very subtle and other times "requesting the attention of the viewer".
I'm going to bet money that Suz can't keep away from the color on this project. Just a feeling I have.

Well, there already is some colour with my wild fabric, and I've made prairie points and rouleau loops with the wild, so yes, there'll be some of that popping up on each section, but that's all the colour I plan to add....although, you never know......
I tend to stay away from white because it won't stay white long in my house. Between me and my grey cat, well I leave it to your imagination.
My favorite thing in this post is your bullions, just love those and yours are so neat.

Your tiny bit of tatting for March looks so delicate. Wrapping cloth is new to me too and I wonder whether it originates from "swaddling clothes".

Thanks Cy! Yes, that wild cloth does attract one's attention,doesn't it? I do love it, though, and it's a beautiful fabric. You'll see it showing up on every piece created for the wrapping cloth.
Well, this will be the first white cloth in the house. Hmmm, maybe it'd be safer hung on a wall....

Thanks Carol-Ann. I think it would depend on one's interpretation of swaddling cloths since they were mostly used for babies. But as a general concept of wrapping one's loved family members to protect and keep warm and safe, there may be a connection. I think if you visited Karen's website, you could read her theory and reasons for creating a wrapping cloth.
