Here are some new seams from February's block:
Here's the last seam, and the whole block.
I'm really not satisfied with the seam on the bottom. It's fine as a seam, but it seems too stark? Too primitive? But it's in, so it stays. On to March.
I like the contrast of the geometric seams against the soft curves of the swags and the chain stitch. I think that tension makes one focus on the silky even more so. Nice having the yellows on blue and the blue on the yellow.
I actually rather like the seam on the bottom. It is a strong seam and gives weight to the bottom edge. I also love the broken zig-zag stitch on the polka dot fabric too. All in all, a lovely block for February.
Thanks, ladies. I appreciate your comments and encouragement. The yellow on the polka dot fabric kind of reminds me of a sergeant's stripes. =) I think as the blocks go together, probably no one thing will stand out, you're right. That's what happened with the Flower Fairies.
I love the little girl, and the seam on the left next to her picture is really interesting. I agree - it will blend once all your blocks are together. Really a nice block. To me, very imaginative.
I think the deal on that bottom seam is that the design is okay, but the threads are thicker than I normally use. The gold is verithin velvet, and the blue is a #5 perle. Now that I have categorized the problem, I can move on. LOL

I'd probably say it seems too fiddly- a little disjointed with so many color changes.
The chevrons connecting the dots is pretty cute!

I'll bet it will be fine once you have everything together.

I love what you have done so far sure everything will blend together when you are all finished. Love how your silkie stands out.
