I am very busy working on 4 wallhangings to be juried into quilt show. The deadline is Dec 10th so I've set aside TAST and CQJP until I can get these pieces done. Following are some WIP photos showing the mix of hand and machine work.
The herringbone stitch is my new best friend!

Lots of great texture! Can't wait to see your finished pieces!
Check out that linen in the last picture. Look familiar?
Interesting tidbits! Can't wait to see it all. I'm curious about the baskets of flowers. Did you do those by hand?
No, the baskets are from Emblibrary--their vintage inspired designs.
Crazy! They sure look hand stitched!
Such interesting teasers! Love the laces. Are some of those antique? Herringbone is my second favorite stitch. It's so versatile!
I;m under the gun with this deadline so all my handstitching is of the surface embellishment variety (which I like anyway). One of the reasons I got the embroidery machine was to stitch motifs I knew I would never take the time to stitch but wanted to own for my projects.
Angela gave me the dresser scarf that I cut for that one lace piece. My guess is that it is vintage but not antique.
Herringbone is fast too!
Hey, just letting you know I am unable to post pics to blogger. :-C so until I figure out what's wrong.....no post from me.
Wonder what's up with that?
Great how hand and machine are working together to create these pieces. Different weights of fabrics, new and old side by side, rough edges and neat seams, your studio must be a magic place.
I thought so!
:-)
Suz, is it possible you've run out of free photo space on blogger and need to buy space? I believe (but don't quote me) that when the space is used you can't upload any new pics no matter how hard you try! They don't send an email & kinda leave you to figure out the problem yourself.
or chaotic! I had to take some time today to move the unwanted "candidates" back to the attic. It was getting pretty cozy with all the piles everywhere.
It's possible, but I can upload sometimes, but not other times. When I do it takes a minute or two......I'd at first thought it was connection problems, but, everything else seems to be working well. I shall ponder.
Thanks.
I like the herringbone too, and yours in the variegated looks so nice. Nice teaser pics.
