New Zealand
Sarah's going to let her pictures tell the story
Pohutakawa - NZ Christmas Tree
Land of the Long White Cloud
If its NZ then there must be a Kiwi - here's one walking out of the Toi Toi
and, of course, a little lone sheep
90 mile Beach, surf, penguin and stars especially for Cy
Harakeke - Flax Flower - used for weaving, making baskets, etc.

Holiday romance? Looks a bit old, would Great Grandmother approve?
Oyster, oyster and
more oyster!
Apologies if I've overstepped my share of the July Reveal

Fabulous! Makes me want to hop a plane headed for NZ. I wish. Great oysters! I love how you embellished the NZ Christmas tree fabric and the buttons, expecially the cute sheep. Oh, and the wonderful stitching. Great job! Where's our gal headed next?
Thanks Judy, Sarah's on her way to Egypt.
What a gorgeous and lush block. I think Great Grandmother would approve, after all a fisherman could at least provide meals for his family, not to mention he's rather handsome.
Impressive!! Such wonderful embroidered segways between elements and fabrics. So spot on! and your fisherman is a handsome devil!
One of your best, Carol!
Oh so fabulous. I recognize everything. Absolutely love your Pohutakawa flowers, ingenious stitching. Oh and I adore the toi toi texture, ingenious again. (Toi toi is pronounced "toh-ee toh-ee" if anyone is interested, lol).
Love the sheep, love the penguin, love the koru, love the flax plant, and I so love the stars.
This has been extreme eye-candy Carol, but I must ask you.....how did you get a picture of my hubby fishing? (without the pipe it could be him)
Thanks Cy - you had better keep a close eye on DH as Angela and Debra think he's handsome and understand Sarah is quite smitten, he must have a brother!
:-))!
or a son!
Lucky Sarah to have travelled through this beautiful lushness! It all looks fab and I really love the Pohutakawa! Such a cute black-faced sheep, and I think that's a nice button trail! So much oyster!
Yes, this is more like one of our sons actually (again without the pipe tho). George is the rugged outdoors type who enjoys fishing like this. DH prefers fishing from a boat, lol..
Personally, I prefer fishing from the supermarket.
ha! ha!
I thought I had used all the superlatives in commenting on Cy's block. Then I get to yours! Just wonderful! Such a creative use of the motifs within the fabric to guide your embellishments! I love it!
Your finished block is striking. The flora and fauna are lush and inviting.
He's not "old", he's just Rugged! all that outdoor living and sunshine just makes him look more mature, I'm sure. ;)
There is so much to love in this block! I love what you did with the oyster stitches. The yellow button cluster is wonderful! The tufts on the koi koi are so very fun! and the embroidery on the pohutakawa flowers really makes them jump!
Thank you so much for sharing the beautiful pictures of your work!
