Four weeks was enough during May to get my block completed. I kinda lost steam this past week; I think, partly because mentally, I felt like I had done as much as I wanted to the block. I'll add the Knotted Cretan to the June block. This is the last block of the orange and yellows. June's block starts the group of green blocks. I think by the time I got to this yellow block I was getting bored with the whole red-orange-yellow group. The nice thing about this challenge is that the color changes at each month!

Another great block, Debra! Did you machine embroider the words and daisies? I love what you've done with the various button clusters! Oh, and the white polka dot bow; it's perfect! Wherever did you find the cool butterfly? So, you're off to green, eh?

I got that butterfly (and a few more in other colors) in the Michael's $1 bins. I have the best time looking there for embellishments. I didn't embroider the daisy -- I still have a little bit of that kind of embellishment stuff in my stash I am trying to use up. The central motif came from Urban Threads with the words and pincushion crown already formatted.
Ooh, lots that I like on this block! I really like the playful look of your seam with the bullion and French knots; nice shisha over the button; those snaps are snazzy and perfect for a sewing themed block; all of the seams on the second to last photo are substantial and really nice combinations; and finally, I like the button treatment on the bottom photo and how your buttonhole stitch gives the impression of a ruler. To sum it up - great block!
Yet another great block! Love all the embellishments, especially the black snaps, who would have thought to use them? I also like those flat jacks looking things, cool!
"All things bright and beautiful". Love the button clusters and the row of yellow buttons is so smart showing off those lovely Bullions. Daisies are dazzling. Press studs (snaps to you) have really gripped your ric rac (I'm enjoying myself here) and your shisha extravaganza is enlightening. You certainly "sewed stuff" this month.
I used the stripes in the fabric as a guide (it's an old trick of mine!)

I have been wracking my brain to think what they reminded me of--jacks, of course! I bought a big tub assortment at Hobby Lobby the other day and it is full of all kinds of fun little bead pieces. Perfect companions then to the vintage buttons!
I felt like I was stitching like a master by the time I got to those red bullions! Practice helped (alot).
Using those snaps like I did reminded me that I need to come up with an idea for a zipper too.
I was thinking zipper too Debra! I must have caught your brain signals. Actually I have a bunch of old zippers I've been thinking of trying to incorporate into something. Have you seen the zipper flowers? That could be sweet on your sewing quilt.
Yea, I might have to get all crafty in June and make one!

I know, once I made the bold statement--I don't do crafts. Of course as soon as I said it, I wanted to make every craft I saw. It's kinda like--I don't like purple and now I have purchased a pair of purple earrings and found myself looking at some purple clothes yesterday. My husband would probably like me to declare--I don't do housework.

I think my favorite thing on the whole block is the polka dot bow. I don't know why, but it's very appealing to me. Your stitching is all beautiful, and I especially like the seam on the yellow stripe fabric. You used such a variety of wonderful stitching and embellishments!

I really like the yellow detached chains on the black band with the white polka dots. It really enhances the ribbon and makes it 'important'.
And those snaps/press studs (which in NZ are called 'poppers') are such a fun thing to add.
And I like the whipped stitches on the edge of the flower ribbon, and your shisha, and the way you couched down those yellow flower shapes, and, and, and.....

Zipper flowers are such fun! I made some with singed organza layers and variegated tatted lace frill, and I can just picture a variety of zipper flowers all gathered into a gorgeous bouquet for one of your blocks.........
I'm thinking about a zipper flower. I really am!
This block is so fun and cheery, and I like all the sewing do-dad ideas you incorporated. I think my fave bit is the layered seam treatment to the left of the buttons and polka-dotted bow.
