I've been working on my May CQJP, and there have been a few changes:
Mr. Snowman changed his scarf to a red one, and, look! He now has twiggy arms. That makes it easier to hold the tinsel he's putting on the Christmas tree.
Can you see the little copper decorations he's already hung on the tree? There are sparkles, too.
Tast stitch for this week decorates my CQ block..... it was fun to do.....
Looks as though Mr. S. has decorated the hall for a party. .....icicle lights strung along the wall......and snowflakes hung here and there......
I waonder what else he's planning to do..........
A little bit of tatting on the second needlebook I'm making as a gift

My needlebook is all embellished and it was fun playing with different seam treatments and layering them in search of something unique
the middle one is herringbone, but it could be V's too for a little different look
I've completed the seam treatments on my thread roll-up although I may add some beads later......
there's some stitching going on on the pale orange patch.......next time I hope to be finished two motifs and a spider web....

We have our concert series this week: 1 dress rehearsal, and three performances, so I might not be around very much. Have a great weekend!

Your CQ block and other stitched pieces are looking good. I hope Mr. Snowman behaves now that he has arms. I particularly like your seam treatment in the bottom photo with pink/red, green and finished off with purple chain stitching. It really makes a statement. Your bullion 'v' flowers are really nice too.
Wherever did you find those perfect icicles? Mr. Snowman must feel ever so much better now that he has arms. Like your butterfly chain, very pretty! This is a nice looking block.

Saucy snowman joining in with the festivities and butterfly stitch decorates your seam so well. Your needle book embellishments look wonderful, so colourful and attractive and am looking forward to seeing the finished article, do please also post a pic of the inside.
Mr. Snowman was just waiting for arms in order to change his attire! He can come decorate my house for Christmas anytime.
The snowman block is more adorable each time it comes up for show. I love this one. That orange bullion seam you showed is beautiful! I might try that, not in orange. =)
I love the tatting. It looks a lot like what Sharon calls "casting on the needle stitches". I found her instructions so I might give her version a try.

Unless you are in a hurry to learn cast-on stitch, I'm sure it will show up as a TAST stitch.
Thanks Connie, I had fun with that pink/red/orange/green/purple seam. I started the bullion flowers with straight stitch, but they looked really insignificant, so I added bullions in the orange and then more straight stitches.

Actually, the second half of a tatting stitch is like a cast-on stitch, so there are similarities. Tatting the second half of the stitch also looks like the drizzle stitch since it tends to curve and twist.
I am interested in how the different embroidery stitches relate to the needle tatting, both in execution as well as the look of the stitches.
We're tatting next year, right? Hope so because it looks really special on your block.
I think it's being considered, Carol. But I've never taught needle tatting before......so we'll see if there's enough interest.
I'm not the only tatter in the group, and maybe there would be a preference for shuttle tatting.......

I love that your snowman is decorating the tree! I think he's fabulous. His interaction with the tree gives your whole block a more dynamic feel. The little plastic icicles are fabulous!

I do shuttle tatting. I'd love to give needle tatting a try some time. :)
