I finished my Chikan Embroidery SAL! Yay! I'm so pleased with how it looks.

I hope to frame this and hang it in a window
I've been working on my Basic Crazy Quilting course at StitchMAP, making a thread roll-up, a pin cushion, and two needlebooks...
These are pics of some seam treatments I've been working on the thread roll-up
french knots with chevron stitch and some angled F's
Here's the whole roll-up. I have more planned for this piece, including a spider web, a bird, and probably a dragonfly
I'm working on TAST and my CQJP, and hope to post pics tomorrow

Love your Chikan piece. It's be beautiful in a window! That sounds like an interesting course. Looks like some interesting projects. What's an angled F?
Thank you Judy. The angled F is just a made-up stitch. It looks like a letter F lying on its back, but the F arms are angled instead of being straight. Sorry, I guess I should have been more precise....... I have a bad habit of thinking everyone knows what I'm talking about.....but DH tells me I'm not always very clear.
Beautiful Chikan embroidery and how lovely it will look in a window. Angled F seem treatment impressive, will we see pics of your needle books and pincushion?

Thanks, LadyHawthorne. The large piece of white patterned fabric is one I love! So then I had to find other fabrics to go with it. It's not my usual choice, but it's growing on me.
Suz, your Chikankari is gorgeous! I love how it turned out. Congrats on finishing. What did you think of the last step? I really like the bright fabrics you are using for your thread roll-up. I assume the other pieces will have the same fabrics? Is there an album on StitchMap where I can see what some of the others have done? I tried to find it earlier but couldn't.

Yes the pin cushion and the needle books will have the same fabrics, so it's like making a matching set....at least that's supposed to be the idea......

Finishing the Chikan has to feel really wonderful! The stitching is so fine and elegant looking in that lovely thread. Love the seam with the angled F. Wish I could see it up close and personal! But then, I'd probably steal the idea. =)

oh, missed that bit: I enjoyed doing the last step, although at first it looked too difficult so I put it away for a few days. Once I had the time to read it through and understood what I was supposed to do, it wasn't hard at all. Isn't that the way? ha!

Your thread roll cq is looking great with the lovely variety of stitches like that. The angled F is an ingenious improvised stitched seam treatment. Well done for your inventiveness.
I am looking forward to seeing the pin cushion and needlebooks when you have them all stitched up too.
Anita, CQing is such fun! There are so many things you can do to make any piece unique. Beading, crocheting, all the embroidery skills you have could all come together to embellish a CQ. Coming from a quilting background, you already have a lot of the skills to ensure a good base. Then it's play time!
I hope you've signed up for the colour theory course and the BCQC on StitchMAP. I learned from both.
