Cy - V Stitch Explorations

Designing with a ‘V’ and with multiple V’s was rather enjoyable.
I can see many, many more designs growing from this exercise, and will, of course, be using some on my future CQ seam treatments.

Since doing mine and now seeing yours, I am very intrigued with the reverse V patterning (bottom example). For such an easy transformation, it could open all kinds of ideas. I could see long beads in those spaces--it's a great repeat.

I also love the arrows pointing to the open space. Wouldn't that be a lovely way to showcase a special bead or momento? Very subtle but so pretty.

Really nice examples, Cy. Thanks for taking the time to stitch them.

The other thing I realized when doing this exercise is that I don't do unlinked stitching very much. By avoiding those separate stitch units, I am, in essence, closing down my options. It wasn't a conscious effort. I just felt more comfortable stitching linked stitches. So, now that I am aware of what I have been stitching, I am going to make more effort to try some of the unlinked stitch groups. Clearly, they have much to offer for designs too.

Nice examples Cy! I don't know if I will have the chance to join in the "stitch exploration" fun or not. I may try some later. Summer is pretty crazy busy.

wow! So much work so quickly! Great job. Isn't it great how limiting our choices can actually expand our options sometimes?

Great examples, difficult to choose a favourite.

Lots of wonderful ideas there! I always like a seam using what you did on the very bottom. It's just so pretty, and so ripe for other embellishment.

You're welcome Debra, and thanks for introducing the extra stitching challenge. Glad I can still take part without having the templates you were all talking about, hence my stitching on the evenweave ground fabric.

I'm in the opposite hemisphere to you and my days are getting cooler now, so it's a good opportunity for me to sit and stitch inside instead of working in the orchard or on the farm.

I agree, and I was pleasantly surprised by how simple these rows are to stitch and yet will have a great impact on a seam.

Blindfold yourself and point to the screen to find which one to stitch next, haha. (what a good way to improvise, you've just prompted another design episode from me).

Too much spare time on my hands at the moment lol.

I like how we bounce ideas back and forth here.

Yes, it's not so much the V stitching that will make this seam great, it's how to use the NEGATIVE space on this one.

Me too--it kind of made me a little mad that I have been overlooking these kind of stitches for so long.
