Wonderful interpretation of the stitch! Yes, I can see that India is going to want alot of sparkly beads! Pretty, rich colors in your fabrics too.

Opulent is definitely the word!

This is going to be another wonderful block. I really like your crossed buttonhole stitch over the ribbon along with the detached chain. You all are going to make me like this stitch yet...if I ever get my supplies back.

Also, with purple you can't possibly go wrong in my mind.

That Sarah sure gets around! Very nice stitching and in the colors of our WA Huskies no less. Now that you're in India, you'll surely have to check out those Shisha mirrors. You'll have fun embellishing this block, that's for sure!

And my first thought was, "Boy, that's alot of purple!" LOL! (we have such fun in this group!)

Debra Dixon said...

Not sure how I am going to make it through 3 months of purple (via my color wheel plan). Maybe I will come away with a new appreciation for the color!

Understand long long ago purple was the most expensive colour to dye and perhaps that is why is was associated with royalty.

At least I shall be pleasing some of our group if only for the WA Huskies.

Wish I could take a very quick course on Shisha mirrors as they must surely be represented.

I see a lot of purple down my way with Mardi Gras, It's all about opulence and royalty too. Have you ever been to India?

Carol-Ann said...

I would really love to go to India but Rod's not keen.

Your slightest wish Carol. Here is a tutorial on Anita's blog:
http://artisticfingers.blogspot.com/2012/02/sisha-stitch-tutorial.html I was going to try to attach something other than a mirror to one of my blocks following her tutorial. It doesn't look horribly complicated, but then I haven't tried it yet.

Didn't we have a link last week or so? I think it would be easy enough to do on your own--basically, it's the buttonhole stitch.

Easy Sisha Embroidery Tutorial

If you want, I'll do some this month on my block too. Anyone else want to try the sisha embroidey?

Debra, we must have both posted simultaneously because I got an error but then my comment was posted. We are both quick to help
;-D

Funny, got the same reaction from Wes. Maybe we should meet up there.

Debra Dixon said...

Yes, me too. That is why I have staggered posting for the entries because I have had that problem in previous groups and people get upset when they write their post and get bumped.

Debra Dixon said...

I think it is called "enabling" but I'm not sure! LOL.

Thanks Connie for the link.

Thanks Debra for yours also. Please count me in if we're having a group Shisha experience. We're all going to Shisha, sounds like a dance.

I just looked at both links & they are different. I'll give them both a try and see how the results look. It's all about learning, right?

Some learning curve!

Ooooh this is going to be my favorite block I think. Not the least reason is that purple is my favorite color.

Carol-Ann said...

I think the purples have it!

Oh boy! such inspiration in a group stitch project. I'm in with the Shisha dancing.

Love that India travel poster in the middle of your naked block Carol. Perfect match for this colour scheme.

I like your combination seam treatment of crossed buttonhole and detached chain. I can see this seam growing into a beauty.

Connie Eyberg Originals said...

I would like to try this...maybe something fairly simple. Probably no Shisha tree. But then, you never know.

I LOVE the purple. And yellow for the sun and heat of India? Or for the curry?

Mirror Mirror on my block........

Very pretty seam! I love that it's India, and I look forward to seeing everything that you put on this block! The silkie in the center is great!
