Ms. Sue looks pretty much the same as she did last week, but I did do all the french knots since they were conveniently this week's stitch. I also finished her dress and the bow on her hat and decided to save the bird for next week. Hopefully, the next stitch will inspire me to spice up her sleeve and hat. I'm still up in the air about "grounding" the gate.As a side note, it wasn't until a few years ago after looking at many blogs featuring embroidery that I realized I'd been taught the french knot incorrectly! What I was doing was really a small bullion stitch. Have you ever tried relearning something you'd been doing for a zillion years? So Ms. Sue and her passion for french knots has given me lots of recent practice in doing it correctly.

French knots work out great for this. I hope I have learned the French knot correctly because I have it down pat now after doing so many on my 2nd block (pink flowers). I've never done the bullion stitch...I don't think I have.
hahahaha, I've had people tell me I tie my shoelaces wrong too. Who cares as long as it works.

Yes, you seem to be having all the right TAST stitch to keep you going. I know they're due to get complicated real soon but you've been ingenious so far for using them on your Sues. I don't think you need to ground the gate, looks good as is.
If you liked the results of the old way, why change? Love your Sue. =)
No such thing as tying your shoelaces wrong! Each tying method has benefits and disadvantages, same as stitches. Check out this fabulous shoelace site!

Just a thought - would she be called "Rain Hat Sue" if the sun didn't shine on her everyday? Or maybe that's another series, lol.
There's a machine embroidery series called Sinbonnet Sue. It might be more fitting to my tastes! (Yours, too?)
