Judy~Couching on SBS
At first, I was a little befuddled as to how to use couching on my March block. (Didn't even really know how to practice because I'd done couching before...) What to do with plain ol' DMC embroidery thread? Then I decided to use a full strand of floss and couch it over the lines of her butterfly net. The thread wasn't overly cooperative, but it looks OK. I had fun with her hat though: used broad chain on the ribbon and was surprised that it kind of resembles the buttonhole stitch on the hat. After I got tired of that, I switched to chain stitch at the top. Do you think the brim needs something more? Wonder what stitch is coming next?

I love the butterfly net! In the up close, it almost seems to sparkle. I think the brim is perfect as it is. Could get too busy with more. It looks like an adorable maybe-straw hat right now.
The net looks great. The bonnet is very cute. If you are unsure about the brim, just leave it alone while you work on the rest of her and maybe as stitches come up something will evolve. What you have done is very nice.
The net looks great! SBS looks dressed for spring in those colours. I think the hat looks just fine.
I think we had the same ideas on couching this week. Sue is so cute, I like each one!
SBS net will surely catch many butterflies, lovely. Her bonnet is really pretty.
These Sunbonnet Sues are creeping right into our hearts here! So sweet.
Perfect use for the couching on that net--will need to remember that.
Now we have 2 ways to stitch a net-couching and net stitch.
I really like the chain stitching on the hat!
It looks very pretty. I think adding some texture to the hat brim would give it some extra zip.
I like Connie's advice. I'd wait until later on to decide whether the brim of her hat needs more stitching, and if so what kind. I always look forward to seeing what you do with your SBS blocks!
