We have been driving from Seattle to Palm Desert, so I've been stitching in the car.
The first thing I thought I'd do is go back and catch up with earlier TAST stitches. I tried a couple of iterations of each. The only one I wasn't able to accomplish was the Rosette Stitch, which is a variation of the Twisted Chain stitch. Anyone have some suggestions on how to accomplish that stitch?

Love, love, love your family block! That is so beautiful! The sampler is looking so interesting (even upside down) with all the different stitches decorating it. Thanks for sharing!
Your earlier TAST offerings are great and your family block is lovely. Patch embroidery is a delight, wonderful stitching.
Once I got my computer turned upside down, I enjoyed your sampler photo so much more!
Love the "Family" embroidery and the white floral bouquet---could see a few very small whipped wheels snuggled in there too.
Nice sampler, even upside down it looks good! Can't help you on the Rosette stitch because I've never done one. Sorry. Love your family block. The wheel/flowers and leaves to the left of the family photo are beautiful. It reminds me of Brian Haggard's work. (I got his book as a Christmas gift and just love it!) You do well in a car ;-)
Love that floral bouquet on your family block. The thread is a perfect color against the fabric! Might have to try one of those wheel-flowers; they're great! Also like the leaves. Nice work! Fun sampler too.

Yes! I have Brian Haggard's book and am using it for inspiration! Nancy D. and another friend are doing neutral blocks, and I liked them so much I decided to do one also. Then I got onto using my photos in blocks. That reminded me of Brian Haggard's book, which I've had on my bookshelf for over a year, so I dipped into it and discovered that he had good ideas for just the things I wanted to do so I've brought it along on this trip. I'm enjoying the process and the results!
A sewing friend and I each purchased his book when it was released In the UK, but it's the first time I've seen interpretations of his work. Your block is looking very lovely and have to say how impressed I am that this can be achieved in a car, but I suppose you weren't driving, at least I hope so! Ha ha.
LOL! I wonder how many crazy quilters are crazy enough to try driving and stitching at once? That would be almost as bad as driving and texting!

I tat in the car, but I don't embroider! (passenger only) I tried it once, but felt too much like a pincushion. Bumpy roads and sharp needles are not a good mix! lol So I am amazed by your sampler. Kudos.
I do like your family block: the colours, the way it's pieced. What drew my eye was the bouquet you stitched. I love it! Circles of life meeting the vine that weaves throughout the block..........like how each person is connected to one another in a family.....
oh how i love this. i tried once, in vain to do a crazy quilted piece. i must try again.
