Angela: Barred Chain Stitch

This week's TAST journal page with some variations on the barred chain stitch.  This page is even weave linen in an oatmeal color and the thread used is DMC cotton, pearl cotton, some thick cotton single strand I picked up at a resale shop with no label and even some silk ribbon.
March 20th being the vernal equinox (first day of Spring) I chose to embroider a spring!  Until Saturday that was all that was on this page.  I was a little busy this week setting up another project that will take me the next 6 years to complete.  Check out my blog for more info on that  project!
So Saturday I added the grassy/weedy stems and the words and called it good.  Can you believe we've completed week 12 of TAST already?

. . . and to commemorate the spring is the same color as your new project!

How very clever :-) Great stitching and love that "spring" is here. It is hard to believe we have completed 12 weeks!

Fun idea! The barred chain makes pretty good grass, I agree. !2 weeks of TAST also = 12 weeks into 2012; where does time go? And why so fast?

True! Everyone in my neighborhood has been over to see the new project and the old one may be sold pretty quick too.

Oh very effective! Love the grasses! Well, 12 weeks in, and only 40 more to go! (ducking) lol

Such a fun piece. Thanks for the reminder about spring. Since moving to NZ I now get spring in September. I still can't get that right in my head though.
What fantastic barred chains you do. Love the ribbon one.

I love the way this stitch looks like thorny grasses. Beautiful job.
