Susan: CQJP Update
It was a busy week, so a piece where I started out way ahead, I now feel behind! I did work on one corner, the stepped seam I started last week. I didn't do a sampler for the detached lazy daisy chain. (There - all combined neatly!)

Very nice! Please show us what it looks like whenever you add the beads too.
So pretty! I've started to like those stitches that have built-in knots so I can have the bead effect (kind of) without the beading. I'm learning to say No to some ideas this year.
So feminine with those nice pastels. What kind of beads will you be using?
The green on here has that - the pistil stitch - with the knots toward the step stitch. I enjoy beading, though, and the look of it, so some blocks will have more and some less. Last month was less, but I think this one will be more!
Most of the time, I use Delicas of some sort. Usually size 11. Sometimes I use triangle beads, another favorite, and occasionally bugle beads. On rare occasions, I will use a drop bead or some other bead I've collected, but I almost never use anything even as large as a 6. Most of my beads come from trips to Sacramento's U Bead It shop, which has a huge assortment of beads and charms for jewelry makers, reasonably priced. Fortunately, they also do mail order, so if I run out, I have an online source. Not that I've ever run out. LOL But I have ordered more colors of things I liked.
It is so nice to know of good sources for online ordering! I really like their collection of brass charms and findings! Oh, I could go broke on those!
This is a beautiful seam already! I can hardly wait to see how much more interesting it gets when you add the beads!
I agree with Debra that knotted stitches are a wonderful way to add bead-like texture, but there is something about the shine and polish of glass beads that I just adore!
I find the detached chain stitch is an extremely useful one to use almost anywhere. It has such variety. You have used it to great effect here and I love your running stitch wavy lines. I look forward to seeing it when the beads have been added. Yes, they do take up a lot of time to sew on, but they are so worth it.
Your seam is very pretty: that's a nice combination of stitches.
Oh, Susan, you need to put up a photo of your whole block because it's so pretty! Love the idea of running stitch and the way it compliments your nice detached chain stitch flowers. Neat idea to alternate them and two different threads.
You've done such a nice job on all you have added to this block. I can't wait to see it with beads added. As you say, they take time but are so worth it.
