I got alot done in the studio this week but it wasn't on my Christmas wallhanging. I finished the minimum which is to stitch the 2 borders using the weekly TAST stitch.
I now have all the green squares (5 out of 9) with the borders stitched. The completed detached chain had a fringed look to it when stitched that I really like. I stitched both borders in Perle Cotton & changed the scale of the stitches. Nothing dramatic but we'll see how the borders change when the 2nd layer of stitches appear.

It does have a fringe look. I really like how this turned out. Your wallhanging is going to be so perfect.
First thing I noticed was the "fringe." I like this effect!
It looks great with the green fringe, Debra. I especially like the variegated thread. The darker green on the outside anchors it nicely, I think. Very pretty.
Nice fringe! I like the pearl cotton and the colors on this.
I like the fringe look that has, and the lighter-to-darker thread. These blocks are looking so good!
Thanks, everyone!
I am resisting the temptation to really stitch all over these blocks. I just feel I need to wait until the basic 9 have their borders. That will be soon, though!
The fringe look is great! I would not have thought of using detached chain to create this kind of look!
Believe me, it was accidental!
Aren't these accidental surprises the best, lol.
I'm still in love with this ornamental centre-piece. Has such a homely shape.
Great work so far Debra.
I like the long stitches: they really have presence in the border.
Wow, I finally made it back to your post and am glad I did! Fun that you discovered a way to make fringe. What's under the stitching? Is it a ribbon? Looks like you have settled in with your project....love it and the way it showcases both hand and machine embroidery!
Yes, it's a little piece of gold trim.
Heh!! Any accident you can "sell" to the audience is a good accident. Just smile mischievously and pretend it was all part of the plan. ;)
