I definitely like the chain stitch and liked trying this variation of the posted example. In reality the red shows up much better than it does in this picture. I mocked up the seam treatment with some small snowflake charms to give an idea of how it might look. I am nowhere ready to tackle any embellishments.
Of all the seam treatments I've done so far, this one actually has a Christmas feeling to it. I believe I will add red beads to simulate berries too.

During February we worked on knotted stitches in the Stitch 12 group. I have quite a few french knots here and although I can't tell much of a difference, I also added a good amount of colonial knots too.
I am dipping into my scrapbooking letters for this journal. Last month I used "sew", this month "design" because of the dressforms.
I stitched the Coral Stitch through the middle of the ribbon. It was one of the knotted stitches we covered this month. It's a super stitch with the look of couching. It's very subtle here but I used variegated thread so it changes along its length.
Here is my Chain Stitch work for the month. I also used the Pistil Stitch on the fan looking motifs by the X beads. I like the Pistil too. Nice way to add texture without beading.
Some more of my charms selected to reinforce the theme. I was quite happy with the rickrack treatment. By filling the spaces with Detached Chain Stitches the obvious ripple was eliminated but it gave a nice edge for dangling charms. I love button clusters!
More button clusters and a laced running stitch--another set of stitches we covered in the Stitch 12 group. These laced and interlaced stitches are great seam treatments! Here I stitched the running stitches along the ribbon edge and used variegated thread over the top.
Some of the buttons used are from friends and quite a few are vintage '60s buttons. They came from an assortment my mother bought from Sears Roebuck when I was in grade school. I also used some of my heart buttons I have collected. It's great to have a meaningful place for all these items!
Here is my February block/page for my Sewing themed fabric Journal (CQJP). It is called "Design". I am working around the color wheel with the color + black + white. The color for February is Red Orange. This is an excellent yearly exercise for me--it is forcing me to edit and stay very close to a theme. So far I am just thrilled to be using some of my stash I have collected and saved for many years; both fabric and supplies.

I'm loving all the little charms and I'm always glad to see good uses for rick rack. It has never been a trim I would choose but this group seems to find the right places for it. The snowflakes are wonderful with your Christmas swags too!

I loved looking at all the pretty seam treatments on your sewing block, Debra! (Your Christmas block is really nice too.)The black with white stitching is so perfect and so even! And you sure have a nice batch of charms and buttons on here as well. How'd you secure the letters to the block? Can't wait to see next month's sewing block! You continually amaze me with all the quilting, embroidery, and sewing you get done every week!

The Christmas chain seam is going to be great. Were you auditioning the snowflakes or you will actually sew them down later? I like them, and beads by the green stitches sounds like a good idea. The February block is very appealing. You used so many terrific charms! Are the hearts everywhere because it's the February block? I LOVE the dress forms. A very appealing block, Debra.
I have got two favourites on your Design block - the detached chain fans in the ricrac and the zig-zag chain on the black band. Striking.

I love your design block: the machine embroidery piece really works harmoniously with the rest of the the block, and your embellishments are fun and thematically unified.
The stitching on your Christmas block does indeed say "Christmas." It's nice when you get close up to a piece and see those little details.
The letters are for scrapbooking and they have brad backs on them. I cut a tiny hole in the block and puseded the brad through & opened it on the back. The only disadvantage is that you have to be sure & can't undo like a button if you goof.
I am learning to edit on this project--it's good for me to learn and I am not fighting it as I have in the past.
I have many snowflakes so I was just checking to see how they would look. I hadn't planned to embellish this wallhanging but now I see that I must!
The hearts were actually because the theme is "I Love Sewing". Each month is a different embroidery relating to sewing with a different flower.
I'm home from the quilt show weekend. The events were a bit overhyped so that was disappointing but it was fun to visit with Sophie. Unfortunately, I am very sick with a cold. It got worse the closer I got towards home and now I can't breathe at all.
