This was a very enjoyable stitching week for me with the detached chain stitch. It's always been the lazy daisy stitch to me so that's what I titled it on my journal page above.
This past Tuesday having been Valentine's Day, I simply chose a heart shape. I had also wanted to work with variegated thread as several others have been working with it and it is so very pretty. I think it has turned out quite nice.
And since several others in our group have shown their work space I took a photo of mine.
Yeah, this is it, 2 x 3½ feet of desk that is mostly taken up by extraneous stuff. I didn't clean up so you see it as it usually looks. I work on my projects here while something from Netflix plays on the pc. I usually eat here too as it's just me.

Instantly reminded me of those chenille bedspreads we all had growing up. Mine was a ballerina with matching print curtains. It could not have been any further from reality than a trip to the moon. I was the little girl who lined her dolls up and taught them school. (I know, what a surprise!)
Your heart also reminds me of those little candies you put on birthday cakes.

Mary-Frances asked on my blog if I actually stitch at my desk, the answer is yes as I have a comfy desk chair and a foot stool. When I can keep the cat out of my way.
Your work space is so well-defined. I tend to spread out all over the couch and end table! I'll have to take a picture next week on a sunny day. The variegated thread looks great. I love how the heart peters off to one single stitch. =)
The color of the variegated thread you chose reminds me of those conversation heart candies! Great choice. I, too, love the way the line of flowers tapers down to single petals.
I am loving seeing everyone's workspace! We all have such different spaces and working habits, and it is great to see that there is no wrong way to organize your space, and that no space is too small if you can make yourself comfortable in it! Is that a lovely biscornu pincushion I see on the right hand side of your desk?

I would like to know if all those scrumptious colours came on just one skein of variegated thread? I've not seen that many colours on one thread over here in NZ.

Love that heart! Very nice detail too with the trailing off of petals. I think our variegated thread this week is very similar in color other than mine is a bit more pastel. It worked perfectly for your heart.
Well defined? That's what you think because I only showed the desk. It branches out to the floor beside me, the bar counter to my right and the dining table behind me, the part the cat doesn't sleep on. lol.
That was my first try at making a biscornu about 2 years ago. It is a blackwork pattern embroidered on it. It's also larger because I needed one I could really use for pins. I also put drapery weights in the bottom inside to keep it from flying around.
Yes they are all on one skein of thread, I'll have to check the maker for you. I have 4 plastic boxes of DMC and that basket is most of the extras. I inherited 2 boxfulls from a friend that can no longer embroider due to rheumatoid arthritis.
Like Cy, your heart reminded me of the frosting on a cake! Did you happen to count how many lazy daisy stitches you made? I never fail to be amazed at your creativity!
The variegated thread is J&P Coats col.225 (165), made in USA, 100% cotton.
No, I didn't count them, just kept stitching them, took 3 evenings to do.
I love the heart! Another lovely creation! I can get Netflix on the PC but it's so slow, its kind of like watching a slide show! ;-) Amazon instant video is better. I'm trying to getup the nerve to post a picture of my workspace.

...thinking of which, I have a bunch of Canadian pennies that the bank won't take!
