I have my fabric chosen and cut for the journal pages, the 1st month of designs chosen and printed and I'm about to press and edge stitch the fabric.
Most of these pieces are actually aida cloth. I'm not using it for cross stitch anymore so I thought it would be good to use it up in this stitching journal. Most is a high count but if I need to I can stitch on a linen piece and applique it. Waste not, want not! The colors are white, creams and beiges, some yellow, one olive green, one dusty blue and one goldenrod.
This is my design for the 1st week. I love all things archaeological and it was on Jan. 3, 1924 that Howard Carter discovered the un-plundered tomb of King Tutankhamen. As soon as I know what our stitch is I can decide how to proceed.

How are you going to use the image?
I was wondering about that too. Is your TAST project going to have an Egyptian theme? It looks interesting!
That all depends on the stitch we are given to work with. Could be outlining or filling or something completely different. It'll be a surprise each week not to mention a challenge.
The journal will be something that is commemorated on the day we are given the stitch each week, each will mean something to me but probably not to anyone else as a whole.
Even if the stitch doesn't suit your Tut, he'd make a beautiful cover for your stitch book if you are planning to create one.
I'm also a fan of archaeology and have loved reading about Egyptology for years. Tut should provide plenty of possibilities for stitching!
That is such a cool image you found, Angela. (BTW, I'm happy to now know your non-Lady Hawthorne name!) What you're doing is a much more ambitious version of my Sunbonnet Sue plan. I agree that it will be interesting to try and incorporate the weekly stitch into (onto?) the image and am really wondering what Tuesday will bring! Are you going to practice on another piece of fabric first?
All those horizontal lines will give you a good surface to embellish. Great idea.
